Dr. da Rocha Dias has been a scientific administrator in the areas of Oncology, Haematology and Diagnostics for the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for more than 10 years. Prior to her time at EMA, she was a medical writer for Medicus International, and before that was a scientist at the Institute of Cancer Research in London and a scientist at Imperial College, London.
Dr. da Rocha Dias received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and immunology from McGill University,and a master’s and Ph.D. in immunology from Universidade de Porto in Portugal. She completed a fellowship at NKI-AVL in Amsterdam in the Division of Immunology, conducting research on activity in retroviral transfection of genes and T cell activation and selection during thymocyte maturation. She also completed a fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the Department of Cancer Immunology and AIDS, conducting research on the activity in T cell regulation and CD28/CTLA-4 costimulation.
