Professor Scott is a laboratory head at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and a medical oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia. She has led efforts to establish clinical and research platforms for the study of rare cancers to enable the provision of improved, more tailored treatment approaches for patients with a rare cancer.

She is a board member of the International Rare Cancer Initiative, co-chair of the Rare Tumour Committee of the Gynaecologic Cancer Inter-Group and chair of the Rare Cancers Group of the Clinical Oncology Society Australia. She has established a research program to study rare cancers through a $3M funding award from the Stafford Fox Foundation. She is developing innovative approaches to enable the collection and sharing of treatment data from rare cancer patients in order to underpin new reimbursement indications for rare cancers, Treat, Rare, Collect Data and Share, the TRICEPS program.
